Trump’s administration has launched an aggressive social-media campaign to recruit Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers, according to The Wall Street Journal. The Department of Homeland Security is offering up to $50,000 in signing bonuses, $60,000 in student loan forgiveness, and no degree requirement. The effort also lifted the age cap and sought to rehire retired law enforcement officers. ICE deported 144,000 people through June, slightly more than under Biden last year, and says more than 110,000 have already applied for open roles. DHS is also promoting three career tracks—deportation officer, criminal investigator, and attorney—with competitive pay. Superman actor Dean Cain promoted ICE jobs online and will be sworn in as an honorary ICE officer, according to DHS.
