Two Republican senators said Wednesday they will not consider a replacement for Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook until her lawsuit challenging her firing by Trump is resolved. Sen. Mike Rounds told CNBC that Cook remains in her position and has not had due process. Sen. Thom Tillis said he will not weigh any nominee until the courts decide the legality of Trump’s move. Republicans’ slim majority on the Senate Banking Committee requires unanimous support to advance Trump’s Federal Reserve nominee. Trump announced last week he was firing Fed Governor Lisa Cook, a Biden appointee, citing mortgage fraud allegations her lawyer has denied. Cook responded by suing, launching a legal battle that may reach the Supreme Court.
